About 9 years ago, my life was changed when a strange phenomenon started to occur to my body. “You have semi-dystonia”, is what the doctor said to me. Semi-dystonia is a symptom that consists of abnormal muscle contractions that cause twisting or jerking movements on half of body, either right or left. Since then, this dystonia happens on me almost everyday and had a huge affect on my life. Everytime I was called to collect my book or exam paper, dystonia strikes, and the jerking movements made me fall down whilst walking. Soon after, my life became full o fear: fear of falling down everytime I walk; fear of people concerning about what happen to me as I dislike people sympathy on me; and fear of my parents knowing that I didn’t take the medications (which made me ill). I was living in fear all the time, and one day, I came to a point where I wanted to commit suicide. The future was HOPELESS for me.
However God came and brought HOPE to me when I needed it the most stopped me from committing suicide. He takes away all my fears and worries; and replace them with peace and assurance.
Today, dystonia is still with me, but by God’s grace I manage to control it by myself without taking drugs. Many times I asked God why dystonia is still with me, and one day He gave me the answer through my mother. One day, my mother suddenly felt numb on half of her face, she looked for doctors but none of them knew what it was. My mother was non-Christian that time but she secretly prayed to God every night. After two months of prayers, my mother was healed when she woke up. Through this incident she decided to become a Christian because she knew that it was God’s grace that healed her.
I should not worry of when I will be healed but keep trusting and having faith on God. He indeed blesses me in every aspect of my life when I seek and believe in Him and with this experience I went through, I am able to comfort and encourage most people especially those who are in sickness.
