My name is Kar Mun and I would like to share the story of my life and how I got to know God. Life during my teenage years was very hectic as my parents had very high expectations of me. I was pressured to excel in multidisciplinary areas (academically, in music, and in sports.) Whenever I failed to live up to their expectations, I would be blamed for not putting enough effort. My siblings did not escape this torment either. As years went by, the pressure of raising 3 children and surviving in a city took the toll on my parents. As a result, they were always arguing, and at times even threatening to file for a divorce .To make matters worse, soon after, my mother was diagnosed with a mental illness. Sometimes my father would even leave the family home for days to avoid any confrontation with my mother. At the age of 15, while my mother was ill, I had to take care of my siblings. I felt hopeless and wondered when things would improve.

Our situation took a turn when my uncle finally managed to persuade my parents to seek God for help. My parents were introduced to the pastor, who also offered to help them. Regular counselling sessions were scheduled in the hope that they would save my parents marriage. As time elapsed, my parents responded towards the bible’s principles and were willing to accept each others’ mistakes and learnt how to live in harmony. God’s power really amazed me and I personally decided to learn more about Him. I joined a home group nearby my house and that helped me to know God .

Since accepting God and letting Him take control of our life, my family has been blessed in almost every aspect. When I was given the chance to study overseas, I was confident that I could leave my family as I knew that God will definitely take good care of them.

Before I end, I would like to share a verse with all of you. Psalm 91 (1-4 ). God is my shelter and my refuge. As long as we put our trust in Him and have faith in Him, I am sure He will bless all of us tremendously as He had done to my life. Amen!
