Life stories

Every face has a story to tell. Here you find real people and real life stories. One word to sum up what they have shared is TRANSFORMATION - a life that has been transformed for something greater and more powerful!

In August 2006 my wife of 14 years left me after finding a new man on the Internet. This turned me into a wreck for about 3 months. I went so low that I was very nearly not here anymore.

I returned to work around October although I was still a mess. I was managing a community centre then and within it worked a now very dear friend, Becky. I was always friendly to Becky and her colleagues but when I returned to work, they suddenly became friends rather than people that I talked to which I found odd.

I decided that I was going to get away from all of my old life so resigned from my work and went out for a meal with Becky’s work mates on my last evening with the company. On the way back I got on the wrong train with Alan, one of the people I had gone out with, and this night I just opened up to Alan and we spent over an hour just talking, and it was then that I accepted God may be trying to talk to me and so withdrew my resignation and stayed where I was.

Becky invited me to several activities within Hope, and I first went to the anniversary celebration, and then I went to OMG Life Group 3 or 4 times before I agreed to go to Church. After my first visit to Hope in January I decided to make my dedication to God, and did so on the 8th. I then started to attend OMG and Hope regularly, and jumped at the opportunity to get baptised at the Easter Camp 07 (what a buzz).

Since then I have gone so far it is unbelievable. I am now honoured to be part of the core team of OMG, where I have led Praise and Worship and teaching, and now run our multimedia wing. I also help run our new Tuesday group, and am active within our new E-club, where we are working on bringing evangelism into the limelight. I feel so blessed to be part of OMG, and consider it a real privilege to be part of the team and be used by God in this way. I pray so much that we are able to help shine Gods light in the world.

I also recently made the commitment to become a member of Hope London as this is where I truly feel at home, and have even spoken in the service, which is so not me, or rather was so not the old me. God has so moved in my life. He has taught me that I have a value. He has given me meaning, direction, a purpose for being here. He has given me some truly brilliant friends, and ultimately, a confidence and love of Him that is steadfast.

God has changed me so much that I have been told by both my ex wife, and a former work colleague of 7 years that I am a whole new person. I consider this a true testimony of God's love for me, and hope that this change may help others to see Gods love for themselves.

I thank God so much for drawing me into His family, and changing my entire outlook on life. I could not have done this by myself, and would probably never have wanted to. All praise to God, the Almighty Lord and Saviour of all.
