February was a very special month, as it marked the beginning of Chinese New Year (February 12th) and the celebration of Valentine’s Day (February 14th). It’s an ancient tradition to clean one’s house thoroughly before Chinese New Year, to sweep away any bad luck. Of course, we know that there is no such thing as luck and that all good things come from God, but what a great reminder to check our hearts and sweep away any sin that may have accumulated in our lives. When we get rid of anything that hinders our relationship with the Lord, he is able to reveal his love more fully to us.
Valentine’s Day & Chinese New Year Service
I hope you all took time this Valentine’s day to meditate on God’s amazing love as demonstrated to us in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13, NIV) How nice that Valentine’s Day was on a Sunday this year! as was the first week of Chinese New Year of the Ox. Many people from the church dressed in red for this special service that reminded us of the greatness of God’s love!
